When I was 10, my family took a vacation to Mexico, and all I could talk about the entire time was my favorite TV show, You Can't Do That on Televison. My poor mother. Every 5 minutes, it was "Mom! One time, on You Can't Do That on Televison, they said the funniest thing! They said..." Of course she didn't understand or care what I was talking about, but she put up with it, because I was 10.
Jen is 31. And last night, I couldn't fall asleep because she kept prodding me with, "Are you awake? I just remembered another good one. Did you see the one where the kitty goes..."
She was talking about her latest obsession, I Can Has Cheezburger. I'm the one that told her about it, but she's become an addict. It's an awesome site, and I say that both as an animal blogger and as a fan of talking kittens.
It's not uncommon for adults with ADD to lie awake in bed obsessing over things. The vast majority of ADDers experience difficulty falling asleep, often because of invasive thoughts or anxiety. It's a real problem, and one that should be brought to a doctor if it interferes with the person's quality of life.
But come on, she kept me up last night over this!
Does your ADDer keep you up over ridiculous things?

I read this to my non-ADHD husband. His reply:
"Honey, you're keeping me awake with a story about someone keeping their partner awake..."
